Birthplace of Pepsi

This is the pharmacy where Caleb Bradham invented “Brad’s Drink” which later became known as Pepsi-Cola. Located in downtown New Bern. Re-created soda shop and gift shop.

New Bern Academy Museum

This museum originally served as a schoolhouse then as a hospital during the Civil War. The exhibits are largely about the education and history of New Bern Academy, the Civil War, and the architectural history of New Bern.

New Bern Battlefield Site

An eastern NC Civil War battlefield site which includes part of the Confederate defenses for the Battle of New Bern fought on March 14, 1862. Walking trail includes four different sets of earthworks from the Battle of New Bern.

New Bern Firemen’s Museum

A top notch firefighter’s museum located near downtown. An extensive collection of early firefighting equipment along with many rare photographs.

New Bern Historical Society

Located in the Attmore-Oliver House which was constructed in 1790. It is furnished with 18th and 19th-century antiques. Museum also features a room of Civil War memorabilia and a unique doll collection.

Tryon Palace

The site of North Carolina's first permanent state capital and served as the 18th-century residence for the state's first two governors. This popular historic site includes 14 acres of beautiful period gardens, historic homes from the 18th & 19th centuries, and the North Carolina History Center. Visitors can see costumed guides, engaging characters, interpreters, and hands-on learning in the Pepsi Family Center. Wonderful gift shop.
