The Museum interprets the ecology, prehistory, history and culture of 14 counties in the middle Coastal Plain region of North Carolina through exhibits, collections of significant and appropriate artifacts and programming for visitors of all ages.
A large collection of memorabilia and musical memories of over 300 of North Carolina's best musicians and writers. Visitors learn more about such greats as John Coltrane, Thelonius Monk, Charlie Daniels, Andy Griffith, Randy Travis, and Clyde McPhatter.
The NCNC Museum is dedicated to preserve and explain the service and traditions of the North Carolina National Guard. The museum is located in the State’s Joint Force Headquarters and has a mobile museum, “The History Machine.”

Local railroad museum funded by the NC Transportation Enhancement Program and the Oakboro Regional Historical Foundation. Restored Norfolk Southern caboose is permanently located on the tracks at the museum site.
Located in downtown Oakboro in Stanly County. The museum preserves and celebrates the people, organizations, and times of the area and includes several permanent exhibits.
